Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

I get a lot of the same questions day-to-day… or I’m a very powerful psychic mind-reader. Either way, I hope this saves us both a little time by answering those repeat questions here.

  • No — I do NOT personally do piercings and no shop I work at does piercings of any kind, or sells piercing jewelry.

I understand how this can be confusing! Sometimes Google and Facebook automatically list tattoo shops as piercing shops, but there isn’t any way for me to change this!

  • I do not do any in-person consultations. I don’t have the time and I am not able to make exceptions! I do not consult or schedule over phone / text.

I do all consulting and scheduling online through the Request Appointment email form and it has always worked great!

  • Generally, no.

Since I am by appointment only, it doesn’t leave much time (if any) to accommodate walk-in clientele.

If there is a last-minute cancellation that I want to fill, it will be posted to my Instagram story (or on the shop facebook page) with instructions / details — but it will not be first-come, first-served!

  • If you are a new client of mine, a first-timer, or under 21 — no.

I will likely do finger or hand tattoos if you are an established client of mine OR if you already have finger / hand tattoos.

I take face tattoos on a case-by-case basis (depends on what it is, etc).

Wedding band tattoos will still be declined.

  • Gmail is free and easy to join!

The form requires a sign-in to Gmail so you can send photos with the appointment request, so it is important.

I have an Alternate Request Form, but it is not the preferred form of contact since you cannot add photos until I reply to you.

I do not reply to DMs or messages on social media. I don’t check there, I just won’t see them!

  • Because that’s not how I book / schedule clients!

Getting messages on many different platforms makes it 10x harder to keep track of everything. I already get behind on email replies very easily, and spreading that out across many inboxes will make it much worse.

If you message me somewhere I did not ask you to specifically do not expect a reply. Mostly because I probably won’t even see it!

  • My initial reply to your request typically takes 3 - 5 weeks, this may be longer during November / December / January with holidays and time off.

Once I do reply and we get the ball rolling on the booking process, I am generally faster, but I am not always able to send emails every day.

  • Unfortunately, no.

My tattoo designs are typically drawn up on an as-needed basis, which means 99% of the time I am drawing your design the morning of your appointment.

This is why having reference photos and giving me all the details you can while we are consulting is so important!

Not to worry — I would never want my clients to get a tattoo that they don’t like. There is always time at your appointment for small tweaks and adjustments.

If you change your mind completely (and do not tell me ahead of time), your appointment will be cancelled / rescheduled with a fee.

  • No. Tattoo shops are not kid-friendly spaces for many reasons, so anyone with you must be 18+ only!

No babies, no kids, no teens!

If you do not have a sitter or your kids cannot be left home alone, your appointment will need to be rescheduled.

  • Of course you can bring someone for support! Clients may bring ONLY ONE guest with them. This guest must also be 18+ years of age, no children.

Bringing a lot of people with you can be distracting to you, your artist, and any other artists working! Additional guests may be asked to leave.

  • The price of a tattoo is based on many factors — what size and/or complicated is the design? Is there color? How well is the client sitting? Etc.

When I reply to your request, I will give you a loose estimate — not a set price — once the details of the tattoo are settled. Again, that number is an ESTIMATE and can change based on many variables, including changes that happen at your appointment!

You can always ask and I will aways do my best to update the estimate as we go. I do not want to surprise my clients if I can help it!

  • The answer to this is a little complicated — it’s long, but you can read my thoughts and advice here.

  • The answer to both of these questions is no.

I have found that both of these topics cause many more problems than they solve, so I am not interested in either. Mainly, I don’t want to lose track of anyone’s money!

When people ask me how they can gift someone a tattoo / session, I recommend just giving them cash towards a tattoo!

  • I don’t trade services at this time and I never take “items of similar value” / non-money payments. Can’t pay bills or buy supplies that way!

If you make an appointment with me, be prepared to pay for your tattoo with actual money!

  • I can try to give you an estimate but my first priority is giving you a high-quality tattoo, which means taking my time and not cutting corners!

There are some factors I can’t account for, like if a client is moving more than expected or needs to take more breaks that usual. This adds onto time! But I can always try to give you my best guess.

  • I DO NOT and WILL NOT use AI or generative AI — not in one single aspect of my design process or work in general.

I am extremely ethically against generative AI, for many reasons. Please do your own research!

I also will absolutely not tattoo an AI design given by a client and I will not use any AI references.

My tattoo designs and artwork is 100% human-made and uniquely for you!

  • According to the manufacturers, both our black and color ink is 100% vegan.

  • I am currently not doing Friday the 13th specials or flash of any kind.

If you are hoping to get a tattoo on Friday the 13th, it will have to be scheduled ahead of time (likely a month or more in advance) since I am by appointment only!

This applies to all other working holidays and other “special” dates.

  • Absolutely Not.

I am always surprised by this question and I do not appreciate when people ask it! Please do not ask, it’s very rude.

  • I appreciate the sentiment behind this question but no.

There is no receptionist / assistant type of position (at either shop I work at), and I am not thinking about apprentices for the foreseeable future.
